Burgess Hill Boys' Club MUGA Opens!
4th July 2002
After a long and tenacious spell of fund raising by the committee, Burgess Hill Boys' Club saw its dreams materialise with the opening of its new multi use games area on the 4th July. The major funder was the Foundation for Sport and the Arts.
The Sports Construction Consultancy was engaged to oversee the construction and procurement process.
The planning process had seen difficulty with floodlighting but an alternative scheme was able to improve on the light spreads for which planning had been granted.
The club sought to give the boys (and girls!) wide opportunities for sport, the most difficult to cater for being roller hockey. A non-porous stone mastic asphalt was utilised with a crossfall to discharge the surface water. The chosen surface is Foster Yeoman's Premierpave which has proven to be as tough and durable as anticipated.
The surface accommodates tennis, five-a-side, netball and basketball as well as roller hockey and the users are able to enjoy a high quality installation for which Academy Sports was the contractor.
